Full Day Bike Trips
Our full day private bicycling and cycling tours of the Central Coast of
California are among the very best bicycling tours in California.
A moderate climate combined with spectacular scenery,
several distinct wine growing regions and a picture perfect stretch of
Highway One make the Central Coast an amazing destination for biking
holidays in the USA. All of our
full day bike trips feature a relatively full day of riding (usually
25-40 miles) and a gourmet picnic
lunch. You may bring your own bike or use one
of ours, the bike is included in the price of the tour.

Our full day bike trips that ride through wine country
areas also feature opportunities to taste wine at several excellent
local wineries on the route (tasting fees not included in tour
price). And the van is always there to carry your wine purchases or
pick you up if you get tired. If you are more interested in doing less
riding and more wine tasting, we suggest checking out our Morning Bike / Afternoon Wine Taste
tours. Either way, you'll have great time on your bicycle on California's Central Coast.

Throughout the planning of the trip your response to email and telephone messages was very timely, the food was great, and the routes were fabulous. I would recommend your program to anyone with no reservations.

| BIKING: Edna Valley - Day |
 |
 |
The Edna Valley Loop features some of the prettiest riding in the
county, plus several excellent wineries to taste at along the
route. Our ride begins just outside San Luis Obispo and ventures
immediately into the vineyards that begin just south of town. Get your
camera ready for stunning views of picturesque hills rising above rows
of grapes. We have opportunities to visit such award winning wineries
as Domaine Alfred, Kynsi and Baileyana, with the highlight being a
gourmet picnic lunch and complimentary tasting at a winery located in
the heart of the valley. Longer options into the rolling farms and
ranchland south of Edna Valley are also possible. After lunch, the
ride yields beautiful views of the Nine Sisters, a line of craggy
volcanic hills stretching from San Luis Obispo to Morro Bay

| BIKING: Pacific Coast Highway - Day |
 |
Come see why the magnificent Pacific Coast Highway is one of the
premier places for bicycle tours in California.
Imagine yourself on your bike with waves crashing below the
bluffs to your right while the picturesque coastal range rises on
your left. It rarely gets better than this. We shuttle up to Ragged
Point and ride south past a colony of decidedly odd looking elephant
seals, as well as the legendary Hearst Castle and San Simeon
Cove. The delightful villages of Cambria (where we picnic) and
Harmony, featuring numerous art galleries, beckon us to pause before
we wind up in the classic beach town of Cayucos.
 |
Those up for more riding may continue south to Morro Bay, where we
detour southwest for an unforgettable ride to the "end of the road,"
featuring stunning views of the ocean and estuary below.
| Distance | 38 miles with an option to add 20 miles. |

| BIKING: Waves to Wine - Day |
 |
|
Southern San Luis Obispo County is a diverse blend of spectacular coastal scenery, lush vineyards and slower paced beach towns where old California is alive and well. This ride takes it all in, while at the same time avoiding major hills. Our route begins in downtown San Luis Obispo and includes a bike trail along a creek on the way to the coast. Once on the coast, there are plenty of opportunities to soak up the ambiance of such beach towns as Avila Beach and Pismo Beach, where we picnic. After riding through idyllic farms and vineyards, we wind up in the early afternoon at Talley Vineyard in the southern Edna Valley for a complimentary wine tasting. Intrepid riders can brave the rolling hills and possible headwinds for the 13 mile ride back to San Luis Obispo, while the rest of us will enjoy a quick van shuttle to SLO.

Evan and I enjoyed the trip so much. Our guide, Cindy, was terrific--very well informed and friendly and funny. It was a 100% positive experience that we would recommend to anyone, especially beginners.

| BIKING: Paso Robles Wineries - Day |
 |
|
The Paso Robles area, with its up and coming
wineries, has been touted as the "next Napa." The locals are friendly
and the riding is phenomenal. Our loop explores the rolling terrain
west of Paso Robles and takes in such noted wineries as Tablas Creek
and Justin. Along the way we'll enjoy a complimentary tasting as well
as a sumptuous picnic lunch prepared by your guides. The route is not
flat, but the van is always available to boost you along the route and
the last rolling downhill is pure delight.

What is included in the price of your full
day bike tours?
All our full day bicyle tours are fully guided
tours that include everything to make your time with us as pleasant
and care free as possible. Included in the price of the tour
are:
- Bicycle and helmet.
- Van and guide/driver for route support.
- Printed directions for the ride and usually a map as well.
- Snacks and water.
- All necessary shuttles during the tour.
- Gourmet picnic lunch.
- Pick-up from nearby hotel (pick-ups at hotels not near the trip
can be arranged for an extra fee - contact us for details).
- Note that winery tasting fees (except at wineries where we picnic)
are typically not included in our full day bike trips. Winery
tasting fees are included in our
AM Bike / PM Wineries tours.
How do you determine difficulty ratings?
It is challenging to come up with a difficulty rating system that
is relevant for everyone. A very fit cyclist might consider our
"Moderately Strenuous" trips to not be hard at all, while someone
who exercises infrequently or is not used to cycling might find a
"Moderately Easy" tour to be quite a challenge. Our bicycle tour
rating system is based on the approximate fitness level of a casual
recreational cyclist who rides at least once per week and rides over
fifteen miles on a regular basis. If you ride less or more than
this, please adjust your expectations of the tour accordingly. To
flesh out the rather subjective difficulty rating, we also include
the distance for each tour and a terrain description. We are also
available by phone to discuss the difficulty of any of our tours.
What bicycles do you provide with your
tours?
We feature Norco Performance
Bikes.
You have the choice of a hybrid
bike with upright handlebars or a road bike with drop (racing style)
handlebars. Both bikes are designed for efficient travel on the road
and have Shimano components. Both styles have a map case attached to
the handlebars and the hybrids also have a rear rack bag to store
gear. We stock a variety of frame sizes to fit your needs. Please
supply your desired bike type, height and pedal preference when you
reserve a trip so we can pick the appropriate bike for you.
