Biking Big Sur and guided bicycling adventures in Big Sur

Biking Big Sur is one of the classic bicycle adventures in the USA. One would be hard pressed to find a stretch of coastal riding more dramatic anywhere in the whole country. Surf crashes on the rocks below the highway, which is often carved out of cliffs that climb for thousands of feet right out of the ocean. This is wild and rugged terrain with only tiny hamlets to suggest humans have any impact on this environment.

If you are interested in biking Big Sur, give us a call! We have supported many groups (from 2 to 80 people) down the Big Sur coast. While many people prefer to do it as a full century ride from Carmel to Cambria, numerous other options are available including a 75 mile ride from Carmel to Ragged Point or a two day ride with an overnight along the coast.

Biking Big Sur

Riding the Big Sur Coast is not for inexperienced cyclists. The terrain is challenging, with numerous climbs and descents. Many stretches of Highway One have little or no shoulder, so riders should be comfortable riding with traffic. For experienced cyclists, though, biking Big Sur is an unforgettable bicycling adventure in the USA.

Our rates for supporting Big Sur rides vary according to the group size and the services needed. Please contact us for details.

What bicycles do you provide with your tours?

We feature Norco Performance Bikes. You have the choice of a hybrid bike with upright handlebars or a road bike with drop (racing style) handlebars. Both bikes are designed for efficient travel on the road and have Shimano components. Both styles have a map case attached to the handlebars and the hybrids also have a rear rack bag to store gear. We stock a variety of frame sizes to fit your needs. Please supply your desired bike type, height and pedal preference when you reserve a trip so we can pick the appropriate bike for you.
